These bike necklaces with spiralling wheels were specially made for us in Kenya. Using a single piece of wire to create each bike, each one is unique, from the front bell to the rear rack. If you love your bike this is an adorable way to show it.
Living conditions in the Nairobi slum where these are made are pretty harsh with few basic amenities and scarce opportunities for employment. Zakale Creations is a shining light - providing training to young people, including taking some of them off the streets and away from drugs. Several of the trainees have gone on to create their own businesses which is a great testament to this pioneering and creative project.
Each little bike measures aprox 3.5cm across and comes on an adjustable black cotton cord, 75cm in length at maximum.
