The jewellery workshop in the Kibera Slum in Nairobi was set up to allow local young men who had been living on the street opportunities for stable work and a chance to learn new skills. They were trained not only in the skill of jewellery making but also how to manage and run the workshop themselves, allowing it to be self sustainable and so support themselves and their families long-term.
