Mama Buci fair trade honey comes from the Miombo forests of Zambia, where farmers hang specially designed, locally made hives in the trees to attract wild bees. It’s fully traceable back to the hive so you know you’re getting nothing but a pure, natural product.
The bees take pollen from a changing array of flowers that grow wild in the forest, giving the honey a different taste across the year. Winter Harvest is darker, richer and sweeter, with a slight treacley taste.
The enterprise was set up to help bee-keepers work more sustainably with the forest and to create an international market for their honey. With an increase in income many families have been able to send their children to school for the first time.
