These colourful and eye-catching beaded hoops have been crafted in Kenya using recycled wire and a mixture of glass and wooden beads, as well as the small silver dividing beads which are carefully handmade using galvanised copper wire.
Zakale Creations is a project based in Mathare Valley in Nairobi, Kenya. Set up in 2001 by a local man who was brought up in the slum, it now employs many people within the community, from workshop managers and specialists to those who collect and clean waste products that can be recycled and transformed into the jewellery. The workshop provides a number of opportunities for young people in the community whilst also keeping sustainability at the forefront of their creations.
