This bird brooch comes in such a marvellous apple green colour, it seems as though it was once part of the trees. And it actually was. It comes from a tagua nut - a seed from a type of palm that grows in the South American rainforests. This nut is an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to animal ivory. It is then hand carved by Olga and Elisa of the Yurac Muyo Project in Quito, Ecuador.
