These colourful earrings are sustainably made with recycled wire and a mixture of glass, Maasai beads and small wooden beads.
Zakale Creations is a project based in Mathare Valley in Nairobi, Kenya. The project was set up in 2001 by a local man who was brought up in the slum. It now employs many people within the community, from workshop managers and specialists to those who collect and clean waste products that can be recycled and transformed into the jewellery. The workshop provides a number of opportunities for young people in the community whilst also keeping sustainability at the forefront of their creations.
