These unique hoop earrings with plenty of swing are handmade in Kibera Slum, Kenya. Created using cow horn for the hoops, cow bone for the dangles and brass for the hooks, each pair is handmade by a highly skilled local artisan.
The jewellery workshop in the Kibera Slum in Nairobi was set up to allow local young men who had been living on the street opportunities for stable work and a chance to learn new skills. They were trained not only in the skill of jewellery making but also how to manage and run the workshop themselves, allowing it to be self sustainable and therefore support themselves and their families long-term.
