These chic and elegant earrings are handmade in Kibera Slum, Kenya. The earrings are made by hammering the brass and hand welding to the hooks, meaning each pair is slightly unique.
The jewellery workshop in the Kibera Slum in Nairobi was set up to allow local young men who had been living on the street opportunities for stable work and a chance to learn new skills. The boys were trained not only in the skill of jewellery making but also how to manage and run the workshop themselves, allowing it to be self sustainable and so support themselves and their families long-term.
