This dazzling, multicoloured bracelet, featuring four strands of beads, was handmade at a youth employment workshop in Kenya, using a variety of gemstones, metal and glass beads. Each strand is made up of small beads interspersed with gemstones so each one is totally unique.
Zakale Creations is a project based in Mathare Valley in Nairobi, Kenya. Originally set up in 2001 by a local man who was brought up in the slum, the project employs many people within the community, from workshop managers and specialists to those who collect and clean waste around the area that can be recycled and transformed into the jewellery. The workshop provides a number of opportunities for young people in the community whilst also keeping sustainability at the forefront of their creations.
