These bikes with spiralling wheels were made especially for us in Kenya. Each keyring is created from a single piece of wire, from the little front bell to the tiny rear rack, and because they're handmade each one is unique. If you love your bike these are an adorable way to show it.
Living conditions in the Nairobi slum where these are made are pretty harsh with few basic amenities and scarce opportunities for employment. Zakale Creations is a shining light - providing training to young people, including taking some of them off the streets and away from drugs. Several of the trainees have gone on to create their own businesses which is a great testament to this pioneering and creative project.
